This tree deserves a progression thread. The tree was originally posted in the species study thread.
If things go as planned, the tree will be developed like a twin trunk. Both trunks will be allowed to grow freely this year to encourage healing of the giant wound. Next year they will be chopped to start the development of the top.

Great tree. Excited to see how it progresses!

Side note - do you have a thread yet for the tree you recently split at the base?

I split the bases of a dozen BCs. Information on how it was done is in the study thread. The big tree with the huge splits will have its own progression thread when I carve the trunk. It should be interesting then.

During the initial styling I carved the wall of the main trunk thin and clamped it to force the side to come together. In doing so, I created a longitudinal crack from the top almost to the base.

Today I found the crack filled up with scar tissue. There is no longer a crack.
