Collected from the bank of an over a century old pond. Tree is not that old though.

Whose back growned the loudest...before even attempting to move that beast? šŸ™ƒ
The Kubota barely felt it. The 30,000 lb rope didnā€™t flinch pulling it out of the ground. I washed all the mud off the stump and trimmed the root before lifting it off the truck and out it on a cart to bring it to the back yard. I bear-hugged Batman to lift him up and put him in the tub.

Repotting Batman will be a 2 man job or an engine lift will be needed.

Exactly...you still had to wrestle it.

What's the longest tree you've worked in your collection...that you collected? Assuming BC? Care to share it? I would love to see such amazing material...taken to the next level.

I started my bonsai journey only a little over 4 years ago and just started to collect BC and Mayhaw last year. I fully intend to take as many as I can and place the rest in the hands of capable people to take these trees to the next level.

Oh, geesh...I hadn't realized you weren't in the game longer. Sorry about that. šŸ˜‰

Enjoy your journey!

You ever consider just digging holes in your yard and lining them with plastic to use as your recovery pots?

Nice tree!

Counted the rings at the chop. Tree is 22-24 years old, which is about right for a 35 ft tree.

What!!! Haven't you seen all the crazy stuff I posted? I am a newbie that dares to try.
I take your post as a compliment. Thank you!

I did but I am moving in less than 2 years. Hate to have to re-level the back yard before I sell my house. My current plan is to simply top dress and reseed the yard after I move all the trees.

I've been away for awhile...I've just stuck my toe back into the water here. I've not ventured into the deep of all the posts. So...no...I've not seen the crazy stuff. I'm not a traditionalist...so...I may not see them as being so crazy. šŸ˜‰šŸ™ƒ

If the Dark Knight rises from the collection. Next year he will be moved into this 33"x23"x8" mica pot. From the dimension, he will barely and I mean barely fit but that is the biggest I can get from Wigert.

I imagine newly collected...he won't be submerged. I was shocked...the commissioned pot I had made...didn't fit...when it came to repotting. The buttress on my BC got to wide...by the time it came around to repotting the following year. BC are powerhouses...

Batman is now partially submerged with bottom 4ā€ in water. He comes with basal flare that is hard to handle already so I am not looking for more. The partial submersion is for knee development. I would to see a few more knees.
