Actually bought my first material to work with,, although I might be in over my head, lol.
Regardless, this will serve as my first in a progression for this... mop of a mess... that I cam home with. Hopefully I'll come out with something nice to look at, we'll see.

Nice! What's the trunk look like?
I'll take some closer pictures soon but I searched around for a tree with a single trunk. I thought one trunk might be easier to work with. 🤷‍♂️
Probly not the right time to do much with it though, so some good pictures may not come until early next spring, maybe late winter.

Note to self.... this shrub does not backbud. Need to be very careful about pruning and branch selection.

Ok. I wrangled the foliage enough to take a few pictures of the trunk. I thought it was a single trunk but roots extend all the way around where the two meet, right at soil level.
What I thought was a branch, is a second trunk that leans nicely outward from center. The larger trunk also presents a lean, and lots of very developed branches.

You have a pretty difficult piece of material. This is, unfortunately, typical of stuff in nurseries. It takes A LOT of close examination of dozens of trees at nurseries to come up with something worthwhile

Not to say this isn’t worthwhile just that it’s going to take some consideration and know how. Or just hack away and see where you wind up (if it wasn’t too expensive)

Well then it's a good thing I have lots of friendly people with lots of knowledge to help me as I try. 😁

But yeah, it didn't cost much but it was a scary purchase. The foliage alone scares me, lol.
With help I'm hoping to produce something that, at least, isn't hard to look at.... but if it doesn't work out I can always put it in the ground as landscaping. I just love the way they look.
