OK so I have 3 small cedars(2inches tall:/) and 2 about 6 inches tall

One of them is going to be trained for ror

Any tips or ideas for the other 4

Thanks for the help

If their young ask yourself the question what styles you like for them

Do you want straight trunks or trunks with movement

With movement you could wire the trunks now and bend them

Make sure the roots grow sideways in all directions instead of downwards to get a nice flair at the base and just let them grow and get fat trunks best in the ground or big flat wooden boxes
and train them for bonsai when the trunks are at least 2,5 inch in diameter

How do I keep them short but there trunks fat

Growth in length means growth in thickness tricky part is keeping the foliage close to the trunk because cedar doesnt backbud very good

Oops i know white cedar doesnt backbud very well not sure about regular cedar

You mean Cedrus. They are the only Cedars. They don't bud back at all. Training cedars requires replacement of the leader with a new one again and again....if you want taper. They are much more difficult than pines.
