So i painted 3in1 directly on the rust tonight on both affected trees. Im thinking tomorrow, after the treatment has dried a day, Ill apply a ring of cut paste to each spot to keep water out... thoughts?
Doing the same today with fertilome ahead of 2 days of rain coming.

Never seen so many folks jump on the CAR bandwagon so quick. Must be the weather this and last year.
I cut the affected immediate shoots with the infection. Where the infection had been present longer the
shoot just pulled free before I could get my scissors on it. Wearing gloves to hold the shoot, I would cut a glob free
and rotate between 3 pairs of scissors standing in alcohol each cut. Using the Bonide granules today and Daconil
when the winds relax. When the weather dries out the infection dehydrates and is difficult to find.
All but the last picture is the back side of the trees and mostly procumbens took it on the chin so to say, + one Sargent.
It's really like a cancer dissolving the affected tissue. Planted a crabapple tree in the yard 3 years ago

I could be wrong about that on further review. Seems like it’s up in the air whether Pyrus species host the fungus. It’s all over ERC’s abound me regardless.
Painting Fertilome on has shown promising early returns. I also have my infected ERC under a table out of the rain we’re getting the next two days to allow it to work more.
The precursor to the wet globules are small clusters of rust colored nodules. After my treatments with infuse many of these started to dry up and disappear, others persisted and a few new ones cropped up but this latest Fertilome treatment will hopefully halt the advance for the rest of this season. I did my first trim of the tree as well to let a little light in which could help too. Will post a progress pic in a couple days with results.
Crab is also starting to bud out so have been treating with systemic as directed in hopes it will be inoculated for the season.

Bringing the affected trees under cover is a big help. ill be doing that tonight with mine.
Snapped a couple pics over lunch as the sprinkle started coming down. Will have to see in a couple days if it completely clears these up but definitely looks to be killing the rust nodules. Don’t have a before pic but they were a pretty bright orange and bigger.

I'm too paranoid to open up fresh tissue to the fungus. I typically begin pruning my procumbens in June harder cut backs in July. By this time it is drier and I think the fungus is pretty much done spreading by Summer through the air.
Funny how shimpaku aren't bothered by it.

I found a few patches on my procumbens today and quickly excised that section of the tree. I had been planning to jin that side anyway so this just got me off the fence. Tomorrow I will follw up with Infuse granules and strip the bark from the defoliated branches. I knew it would happen eventually as we have a service berry tree in the back yard that I know has the disease. Oddly enough none of my native hawthorns have it.

Honestly, I'll be more interested in what the affected area looks like next month and also this time next year.

yes, I agree. still giving some updates as time goes. tomorrow should be very rainy so will see how it looks like because normally the rust would swell into its gelatenous mess.
Status update of my own.
Will continue to monitor but I’d class direct Fertilome application as a successful measure thus far. Even after today’s rain, no new incidences of infection or any evidence whatsoever of swelling of older infection sites. Will continue to monitor.
