I have this maple (Mikawa yatsabusa) which is doing weird things.
At the start of spring I was thinking about putting it in a bigger pot but ended up not doing it because of lack of time.
During spring and summer I tried to keep an eye on watering, but I couldn't avoid the weeks of rain we had.

It started with some (powdery) mildew and I wasn't too worried thinking fall would be here soon and the tree will protect itself.
But now I see branches dieing from random points? Like it just starts at the middle of the branch 😐

Already treated with a first round of copper fungicide, but I can't stop the feeling i'm going to be loosing a lot of branches :(

Is this Verticillium wilt? Anything that can be done?
I read about cutting away the infected parts, but I somewow don't want to be making even more cuts now.

Verticillium wilt is easy to spot looking at a cross-section of the maligned wood. Cutting into it will help with the ID of what's effecting the tree.
