Can we get a Safety Check In?

266 bloating.

I've seen a picture of it fired to cone 10 in a woodfire kiln.

What type of switches/control do you fire with? I think some manual kilns are slow enough and some just aren't. And controllers can be programmed right, but most folks don't !

Do you set a specific ramp?

Great idea @sorce ! Doing decent here in southern California, I'm in the building department of the public sector so I haven't had any days where we've been "shut down" Actually with the low rate re-fi's and no one spending money on vacations this year we've done about double the amount of work of this time last year...hoping it slows down once the holidays and the rain gets here...

I have fired it only in my Olympic manual kiln with cone 6 cone in the kiln sitter. I just got a very large Skutt kiln with controls but have only used it for bisque at present.

All good here in VA except working from home for 8 months is giving me cabin fever. Alcohol gets me through! I would tell you whats in the jar but I don't want @LanceMac10 showing up unannounced.

On 2nd thought, come on over and enjoy some shine!

There has been a lot of complaints about 710 and its brother 266 bloating. It has never been an issue for me and I always fire to a full cone 6. I do take my time with it.
What's your firing schedule for #710 to Cone 6?

With a manual kiln, controls, either switches for individual sections/elements, or low med high knobs, are what determine a very loose schedule, which can only be loosely translated with a decent pyrometer.

@penumbra what type of manual switches?
Do you pyro it?

@sorce I love the spirit of this thread, but I think the numbers we are dealing with would make it unmanageable. If I sent out an email blast to 20,000 members asking them to check in, I could see things getting out of hand almost instantly :)
Could be interesting though......

All good here, I'm part introvert and I'm getting to work from home and had more time around my trees for a whole growing season. That's all good. Also lost over 20lbs. Laying low, enjoying the views sunshine and fresh air. If only my Ficus, indoor for the season, were this happy. Thanks for the check in Sorce, stay well (I'm seriously missing working with clay though).

Perhaps we could message you of folks we're particularly worried about after a couple days.

I really can't stand the thought of folks just "going missing"...lol, what's the internet version of the "side of a milk carton", or the, "wall by the customer service desk at Wal-Mart"?
