I have a number of pines both in containers and in my yard that are starting a second flush… A Japanese white pine (tanima no yuki) grafted on jbp roots and a second in my landscape, 2 mugos one in a pot, one in landscape, and a Japanese black pine in the ground that has partially flushed a week ago…..

My weather has been unseasonably all over the place. We went down to mid 50’s then back up into the 80’s for a week. For the last week or so we have been up and down in the high 70’s during the day and back down to 50 at night. It’s suppose to get down to low 40’s at night and hopefully be fall starting tomorrow.

What do I do? I have a small plastic framed greenhouse I can set up to try to protect the buds and any growth. Is it possible the cold will trigger dormancy and they will just hold off until spring? My main concern are the trees in pots. This is my first season with these trees.

Thanks for the help!
