Box Store Challenge: Members Choice Award

I'm interested in seeing the development of the other people's entries from the BSCI. Hope to develop my entry into something more pleasing months later.

You only have "two senses" - just joking! Hey, you don't sound that much different than myself and probably the majority of others here. We are all consumed by those damn little green trees.

Haha;) it's funny cause probably true with that typo! I type faster than I think sometimes. Correction "two cents".

Derek.

I'm totally with you on a good stare down. Pretty much that whole post.
I look at and for trees when Im fishing in the same manner.
I think you have it absoutely right. Good material is an excellent way to get better. Even if it is a 2-3 yr stare down!

Ooooo. I cant wait. Till spring!

It was really awesome to Have such great guys judging this thing. The more I think about it, the more badass it is!

And I liked being able to cast a vote too.! Yup this thread!

Definitely longer material finding time next year. Fully confident in Vins plan.

I would like to see a two or three month "material gathering" time frame for the next challenge. That should be plenty enough time to find something. The more members that get involved the better as far as I'm concerned. I'll bet the B-Nut Server hit was pretty high over the couple weeks leading up to the reveals.

Vin, really 2 or 3 months ? Would that not change a fun competition into more of a chore ? It seems it would also up the stake in the temper department. I think the week before the challenge puts everyone on the same foot to start out with. The fun is not only what you can find cheaply in a limited time frame but how well you can do with the styling. It would also be much harder to police, you would have to somehow prove that although you found the perfect cheap plant you did not style it until within the allotted time frame.

Personally I vote for the challenge being what it was rules as is, of course if the masses here decide to make this challenges rules an adhocracy who am I too complain ...

I agree with Ed...2 months is way too long. One week should be enough time but I say no longer than 2 weeks. I also like the idea of upping the size to maybe 5 gallons, but keep the price around $30....Just my 2 cents.

I say, two weeks to collect material allows ones with a hectic schedule to get to a nursery for material. If we're drawing sketches next round...allow additional time to do so. Hoping I am in the states for the next challenge. For I plan on participating. I think...a month to collect, sketch and work the tree. But, that is just me. Three months seems really long.

Simmer down everyone, it's just a thought. We need to find a way to make it fair for everyone. Members like Neli, ChrisV and barrosinc wanted to be a part of the challenge but were unable to acquire material as easily as some of us. 2 months seems long to me as well but then again if for example everyone decided to use a pine, I'd be in deep poo-poo. Unless we decide on a long-leaf there just isn't any around here. It's early and nothing is decided yet but let's keep our options open and the ideas coming. It's great to see such enthusiasm for the next challenge even though it's probably 6 months away! Thanks to all (even though I didn't win ;))

Your right Vin...we could play it by ear...see what ones are finding in their area...and if they are finding it bothersome...then adjust the time allowed to locate material accordingly.
