Removing the middle branch will leave a hole in the overall structure but if you leave 3 branches coming from the same area, you will end up with a nob eventually. I think I would shorten the back branch a bit but not to where it meets that secondary branch. You can always reduce it more in the future.

I built a box for it really quickly and repotted. I also removed the branch we were talking about. Here are a couple photos of the repot along with the big cypress for a little contrast.
