Bonsai soil mixes

That is what Akadama is supposed to do. So I've read.

Well I have another soil mix I am going to try. I have some aquarium substrate from my planted tank that I just took down. This sand is slightly larger than normal sand and has been dosed with nitrogen,potassium, and phosphates, as well as trace elements for over 2 years. To this I'm adding some floor dry, and some gravel sized pebbles. This should be a good draining mix.

I have researched this, actually before i made the post, but like with everything on the internet every author of every article i have read has a different opinion, and thats ok, its just hard for a new person to determine what is right and what is wrong. Either way i dont think i will be using pine bark in my mix.
