Hello,
I recently visited Kew, Royal Botanical gardens in the UK, Richmond. Website.
They had a very small greenhouse with Bonsai in, from around the world, so I of course took many pictures and 2 videos (for a bit more of a 3D look). These were very excellent trees, in my opinion.
There's a Flickr album of all Bonsai pics from Kew, as to not fill this thread with too many pics:

Most of the trees have their own board with info on its history, for example the Acer Palmatum is from the Toju-en nursery in Japan, and has been growing in a pot for over 80 years.
There are a good many pics, you are better off looking at the album if interested but I wanted to put some pics in here.
I took a many 100s of pics whilst there at the very old, mature trees of Kew, of their branch structures and trunks. They had redwood forests, larch forests, A LOT of Oaks, Cedars, Cypress, Maples, Junipers and a lot of very tall Pines with great bark. Some of the bark on these trees were as a thick as a standard Elm bonsai trunk...
This is a link to the whole collection (multiple albums), feel free to look through or save perhaps for future designs or inspiration:
