Bonsai Central, Collinsville, IL (near St. Louis) USA, May 3-5, 2024

Just registered and I'm stoked for next May! Had a legit hard time picking which workshops to sign up for, and didn't even know about the popup demos or lectures.

Any chance that those will be recorded for later viewing for anyone who was busy during a different workshop?
We don’t currently have plans to record those sessions, but it would be a really nice addition if we did. I’ll bring it up as a possibility.

Are the vendors open all day or at specific times?

Hey @Kanorin , is there a way to change my registration from Saturday & Sunday only to all 3 days? I ask because all 3 days separately is $375, but the all 3 day registration is $285

Yes, there is a way. It took me a bit to figure it out myself. Does this clear it up? If not, send me a PM!1694034103840.png

It's not letting me PM for some reason. Perhaps my account is too new.

I see that now, but I unfortunately already registered for Saturday and Sunday separately because I couldn't find that before. It doesn't appear to allow me to cancel, so I may just have to eat the extra cost.

Probably because you have a new account. Sent you a PM!

We are doing a rolling admissions process for jurying trees to be accepted to the show. This means that if you submit your tree earlier, you have a better chance of getting in. It's also good for us so we can plan our exhibition layout ahead of time. Our first big wave of jurying is going to happen in early January, so now is a great time to take some photos of a tree(s) that you'd like to submit before the holidays kick in to full gear.
I would personally love to see some bonsainut member trees on display and possibly even winning awards!

Hello and happy holidays to all!

I wanted to let you know about a few updates to Bonsai Central.

First, we have simplified the entry process for submitting trees, kusamono and suiseki for consideration for the Bonsai Central exhibition. We are no longer requiring an upfront payment for submissions - and instead, those wanting to register a display should simply send an email to SUBMISSIONS@BONSAI-CENTRAL.COM. Entry emails should include 2-4 photos of your main plant(s)/stone(s) as well as your contact info and any other information you would like to share with the selection committee about your display. If your entry is accepted into the exhibition we will reach out to you directly to provide detailed instructions on how to reserve your display space via payment of the entry fee ($75/bonsai, $30/kusamono or suiseki).

Time is of the essence to submit displays for consideration! The selection committee will begin the jurying process on January 1st 2024. They will continue reviewing and accepting entries on a rolling basis until the show is complete. Thus, entries received on or before December 31st have the best chance of being successful and accepted into the exhibition.

Additionally, the Bonsai Central Board is elated to announce that each exhibited display will be immortalized in a Bonsai Central commemorative book. All displays will be professionally photographed before/during the exhibition for inclusion in the publication. We would love to see your trees, kusamono, and suiseki on display and in print!

Finally, we have expanded our convention lineup. Recently, we have confirmed additional vendors (including @NaoTK @Waldo Street Pottery some stand-makers, and others) and have added an additional workshop with Bjorn Bjorholm to celebrate his contributions to North American bonsai. We wish Bjorn the best as he departs and moves his nursery to Kyoto mere weeks after the convention.

We hope to see you there!

And a small addendum: I've been informed that @NaoTK will likely no longer be able to make it to the convention, but I'm sure he'd love for you to have some St. Louis bbq in his honor.

I need to look into getting a ticket. Are they selling them at the door? I think that's what I did the last time there was one in Collinsville, like in 2017.

I think we will be selling tickets at the door. I'll double check that for you!
