I am curious about a cultivar called the Blue Ghost Japanes Maple. I wonder if it displays tones of true blue. My experience with 'Blue' trees is that the plant displays varying degrees of blue. Is anyone familiar with this Maple, and does it display 'True Blue' tones?

Cool, thank you... the Purple Ghost is an appealing prospect :)

Almost scientifically impossible to have a blue-leafed photosynthetic plant... because Chlorophyll a absorbs blue wavelengths in order to convert light energy to chemical energy. That's why when you look at plants that are classically called "blue" (for example blue cedar) you see they are actually closer to grey/green than true blue. Many "purple" plants are actually red/green.

Note - we're not talking about flowers, which are non-photosynthetic.
