I have a Blue Atlas cedar that I have had for about 5 years and am working on today. Just wondering if I am supposed to pull all lower needles off of branches like is done on other conifers. Help appreciated.

Pulling lower needles gives the tree a tidy appearance. As far as I know, it serves no horticultural function. Do it if it makes your cedar look neater.

If you pull needles from the bottom, l would leave the last few on the tips of branches on. Basically, the last whorl. I like that look for pines… l haven’t had a spruce ready to do that type of work yet.

Re-potting and potting up new purchased seedlings and starting flowers for spring is about over. I have everything out side but see we are going to have some freezing weather at night again soon. Then the in and out game again. Thanks for advice on the cedar needle plucking. Hope everything is good and you and family are well Paul. You should really come over and collect with me soon. Great spruce, pines, Sub-alpine, Ponderosa etc, etc. I'll guide for free and put you up too.
