March of 2021, I found this really interesting shohin kishu. What really drew me to it, was the super low twist that have it the illusion of a bigger base.

Once it came my way, I also noticed some interesting wire scars that made me think of a Mirai series where Ryan had his students wire juniper whips into funky shapes, let the wire bite in, and then carve out a shari where the wire was.

Over time, I let the tree run with the plan of using interior foliage to build the tree. It was repeatedly let grow, and then cutback creating more interest each step of the way.

The shari is looking great after its slow and steady creation, and I am hoping to set some basic structure in the next season or two.

Around a month after widening the shari, the tree is still growing like a weed. It is wild to see how junipers redirect resources!
