I threw this handy little broom together in about a half hour. As I was cutting back my freeze-killed banana plants, the strength of the fibers intrigued me. I gathered a big handful and stripped then into ever finer fibers. I bundled them up and bound them with some sisal twine and coated the stub ends and sisal with yellow glue. After the broom was formed, I pulled the end repeatedly over a nail-studded board until the fibers were fairly soft.

Nice work! I had to get rid of my banana plants down here. They were shooting up everywhere and I couldn't control it. Attracted some interesting critters as well
 
Mine die back almost every year. I planted them in a corner of my yard that I NEVER want to use again. LOL!
