i just bought my first kurume azalea and want to know whats the best soil mix for these plants.Ive read that they like acid soil and i use a base of Turface, pine bark for most of my trees so what else would i need to make an acid soil?

You could use just Kanuma.

I've grown kurumes in turface and pine bark (1:2) with very good success. If you can find some Kanuma, it is good by itself, or as equal parts with turface and bark. Stay away for peat moss in general because it's just too fine...hard to get wet, then hard to dry out.

Thanks
Tim and Brian! Brian it was the thread about your tree that made me go ahead and get one.i had been thinking about getting an azalea for a while and found one that could survive here

Great...good luck with it, they can be very rewarding as bonsai!
