Went on a quick trip to my local nursery and found this tree in the 50% off section, with lots of dead branches, but a very thick older trunk.
As you can see in the picture below it has a lot of fresh new green growth at the tips, which was very encouraging.
As I began cleaning up dead branches, I could notice a ton of back budding going on along branches and at primary branches, which gives me hope.
This is the trunk before I dug to the root base.
Spent about an hour cleaning her up. I found the base of the tree and made some jins off of the dead nubs.
Anyone have any advice with Arborvitaes and how much work they can handle? How much foliage can I work back once I style in the falll?
