My Brazilian Rain Tree came up with this foliage in the past couple of months.
Just wondering if anyone else had this happen?

I suppose it could be. It sure seems to be growing well. lol. So I guess I will let it go and see what happens.

How long have you had the tree? What is your fertilizer schedule for it? One more question....are you spraying it with anything other than water? Or is your water known to have alot of calcium or chlorine?

I bought it from Wigert's in summer of 2023.
I usually use Alaska fish emulsion during the winter. I am not going to fertilize it just to see if the variegation stays around. Water around this area does have some calcium but not much Chlorine. Have only sprayed with water occasionally.

I would suggest fertilizing heavy during the growing period, works best for mine.. spring through summer. I use osmocote with alternating Jacks 20 20 20 diluted 10-1. Dosnt seem to do much in winter, and I am in zone 10b so my season is basically year round....

What my new growth looks like, 3 or so days old after heavy recent ferts (sorry bout the shaky pic and the closed leaves due to recent rain)

Interesting. Sometimes I will get leaves that bleach out on mine for the first few weeks they are outside in full but it doesn’t usually look that mottled. Did this happen after you transition from indoors to outdoors?

No, actually started when still inside. I have only had it outside a couple of hours early morning to start getting it used to the sunlight in the last 2 days. The BRT has been inside under light, 14 hrs a day all winter.

Isolate it and treat it with extra care. BRT don't seem to have pest problems so no need to spray. Fertilize regularly and wait and see. It does not look like a deficiency to me and it looks healthy with no brown leaves. I think you have the real thing.

I got a reply back from Wigert's. Apparently they have a few that are doing the same thing. Erik said it is because they are to wet. So I guess I will watch it and see what happens. :)
