Another Mirai Tree Sale in a few days

So a tour, plus a one to one with a world class bonsai professional. thats not too shabby imho. time is valuable
A tour with him and walk through his trees ? Yes a great experience… but , I think the $100 is just a slap in the face to genuine enthusiasts and practitioners.

It should be free?
he's probably trying to avoid the genuine enthusiasts who want to know when the best time to chop their home depot maple is, by charging a hefty fee he encourages the more experienced enthusiasts:D

Yeah, just schedule a time to visit. Speaking for me atleast if I’m flying out to that area , paying for a flight, lodging etc. what’s wrong w scheduling a time to visit. You’re spending enough money and time to visit .. plenty of other streams for income other than someone paying 100 to visit , to me is a slap in the face for someone dedicating their time to visit the dudes studio.

Maybe he doesn’t want you to visit, and if you do, he wants to make it worth his or his staffs time? I don’t know maybe not. He clearly has those streams of income and I’d imagine busy as shit doing them, so why would he open up his garden pulling himself and his staff away from what’s actually making him money? What does he owe to the bonsai community, that he is not already providing?

Lol I don’t want to visit. If the money is worth more than letting someone walk around and be genuinely interested in the experience and trees, then I’d rather support other professionals and latch onto those who don’t need 100 dollars to look with my eyes. What does he owe the bonsai community which pays his income hmm idk, maybe the decency to not charge someone 100 dollars to walk through.

Again. Pretty sure the point of the $100 is to weed out. It’s good you don’t want to visit, because that’s clearly not what he wants. His income is not paid by you, it’s paid by those who subscribe to Mirai live and get hundreds of hours of valuable information. Pretty sure your not going to hear a single subscriber complain about a $100 garden visit. Maybe I’m wrong, but I’d imagine they are quite satisfied with his contributions. He knows what his business model is and it’s not enthusiasts visiting his garden.

I disagree with your opinion

His trees look amazing and it would be fun to walk around the garden. And he's seems quite affable.

I genuinely have a hard time with his style of speaking though. Makes it hard to get through the videos. Just seems so unnecessarily verbose, like he's trying to sound overly sophisticated.

If you have a $100 to look at trees you probably have $2-5K to buy one. 😁
You can visit Rakuyo or Matt Reel for free. Rakuyo has an adorable golden Retriever and Matt Reel has a sweet garden cat. You can see Andrew Robson’s Nao Tokutake bonsai pot collection. Both he and Dennis Vojtilla likely have the largest collection of Nao’s pots.

At least you can visit his garden.
Many gardens are not open to the public. Certainly some well-known Japanese bonsai gardens are only open by invitation.
If you have the money to fly out there, spend the night in hotels,. rent a car etcetc. it is fine if all these service providers earn big bucks. And then complain about the actual visit, for which you have spent all this money to reach the place in the first time, also wants to be compensated for their time and effort? Pff.

WRONG! We subscribers should get very discounted admission to garden.

So that's who keeps him too busy to get new pot made🤨.

After the arse kicking that this guy got as an apprentice, he deserves to have all the good things in life come his way.
His epic story is enshrined in every bonsai he produces and to me, that holds great value.
I think a lot of the negative comments come from sheer jealousy. Life deals some shit cards sometimes and this guy payed his dues and deserves more respect.
Id love to be able to meet the man...and be able to see his work in real life.

I have paid to see well groomed gardens, art collections, etc. Why should it be different for a bonsai place? If he charges that much and people still come, that is good business practice. He doesn’t owe me or other bonsai enthusiasts any thing. He has put out lots of good videos that are free. For me I consider those his advertisement to attract clientele. He doesn’t owe me anything nor I him.

Just because we have great bonsai enthusiasts here who share information and pearls if wisdom simply for the love of bonsai doesn’t mean that it should be the same everywhere. Whatever floats my boat may not have the requisite density to float someone else’s, I am cool with that.

Yep. You can visit my garden for free. You’re both invited and would love to have you. Too bad we’re so far away. Also, I have the dubious distinction of having the largest collection of my pots. 😁EC1373FD-42C5-4BA4-B9A5-2A239DDE02B9.jpeg

I have no problem with the fee, just the price point 😁 ... I'm spoiled because I have the National Bonsai and Penjing Museum only a few miles away and it's FREE (BTW, if you've gotten the National Bonsai Foundation Christmas fundraising mail recently, think about making a donation--well worth $25 for a year or two)
