Doing well. Except there are two big roots that emanate further up the trunk. My guess is to remove next spring or repot time when that occurs in two years? Can’t see it in the picture. Or keep it as part of design and mound it up .. I’ll get pics tomorrow of them.

Gonna wire this up in fall and repot in spring , or wait another year to repot and wire in spring before bud break. I know exactly what to do for this tree and I’m happy about it

Repotted into this training pot , akadama and pumice mix. I last fall I cut it down a bit more to reduce height and put into a sturdy training pot , to fix the reverse taper and heavy bends into shape come next year. Roots were also a mess in field soil.

Waking up I like these two front. The apex will be .. the new apex with some wire work

Errkay after some pondering I’ve decided this as my next move for style


I’m cutting off above the red line or turning into a jin.. that back branch is going to be wired up and over to create the new apex.. rest of branches are actually pretty decent for positioning downward and meandering directions. There is also a back branch that will be back to right to create depth as well.

Initial rough styling , cut the top off and used the movement of the base on up to the first couple branches. Created new apex and branches below. The left branch for now will remain and will bend downward and develop more overtime. The right branch is bent into place to be a Jin some how some way in the future but for now is supporting wire.
