American hornbeam Discoloration

I'm concerned about the health of my American hornbeam. Recently two brown circles have appeared on the trunk near some uros. I'm hoping it's just lichen forming. I did see some information online about fungal issues in the cambium.
Anyone ever had this problem or know how to treat it?

I’d feel it , check to see if it is soft , take a small scratch and see if it’s green underneath

Probe to see if the wood underneath is soft. If soft this means trouble.

If not Scrub these areas lightly with H2O2. Then keep an eye of these area. If they begin to weep, this is an infection

Also whatever the outcome … I’d take that moss off too A Hornbeams love the wet , bathe in it , but in this case wouldn’t hurt to dry a bit
