Amandas favorite Bald Cypress

I have very little meaningful experience with BC, but I'm concerned this tree might be in too shallow a pot, and that it may be potted too high in the pot. That said, I'd love to watch it develop.

It sits mostly submerged at all times. If the pot ends up being to small I have plenty of beautiful pots in various sizes onsite.

Time to cut that top off. Cut it bout 4 inches above where the initial trunk chop was made. There are no potential leaders at this moment, but more will pop. If you leave it, it will become as thick as the trunk you removed and then what's the point?

But all of that aside, what is your goal with the tree?

I was wondering if I needed to wait for the wound to heal over before I chop the new leader. As far as my plan, I'm still studying the tree. I like the current height, I just need to fix the taper.
