Hi everyone,
Starting a new thread to show the progression of a new tree I am starting from nursery stock - A Hinoki Cypress 'Green Globe'. This is a dwarf but vigorous cultivar with a tendency to grow horizontal fan shaped pads. Purchased from Conifer Gardens near Mt Dandenong for around $75.
I have just completed a rough first styling in the early autumn here and will aim to do a repot into akadama next spring pending the tree's response. From this initial work with the tree's existing structure, I am thinking of pursuing a triple trunk formal upright design.
360 degree view as from nursery:
Trunk diameter is about 4cm at the base with a height of 65cm (reduced down however).

Crotch growth trunk removed and sealed with cut paste:

Other crossing branches removed, bar branches removed, junctions reduced to bifurcations and long branches pruned back into a rough silhouette:

Finally post wiring of primary branches and bringing them down (lower branches below perpendicular, mid branches perpendicular and upper branches slightly upwards from perpendicular):

i have tried to leave all interior foliage and not pruned back and secondary or tertiary branches given such a drastic prune already (likely 60% of the foliage mass).
Thanks everyone and open to any feedback or tips!
