i think the point that is missed in the above is....does it matter and who cares? its art after all. if you enjoy it and you appreciate your creations who cares what a snob or a pack of snobs think? people who care about definitions are generally wordsmithing sophists; why care what they think? enjoy the hobby as you see fit, nothing else matters.

I’m from KY, and bourbon is only made in my home state, not Tennessee where I’ve lived fur quite a spell. I believe the same could easily be argued for Champagne, and other wine that have no patent on their namesake.
I take no issue with someone in North Carolina making bourbon or even calling it that if that’s what they’ve really made.
States are lines geographic and somewhat culturally and botanically defined sure - and I can’t bother with sampling whiskey, or bourbon everywhere...or anywhere for that matter to make sure the barrels are charred oak and the water is off of cascades of limestone....I get it though.
Some things are sacred words or not. I played this song for a friend and they started crying today. Life is dynamic indeed. Crow ain’t just for consumers, it’s a good name. We ate that dog after the stitches took.
