A True Bonsai Tree

Has an age limit been set for bonsai appreciation that I am not aware of?
I'm sorry, are you not mature enough to recognize absurdity? Or do you just believe everyone else isn't? I bet you wouldn't have any problem recognizing the absurdity of "all these people with paint brushes and canvas are not doing true painting, they only make look alikes. True painting must use medieval recipes cooked up by 14th century French monks" without being a painter yourself.

Is children's lack of understanding (and therefore appreciation) for real, meaningful art somehow not familiar to you? When's the last time you saw a Beethoven music video on MTV?
I have never seen MTV so that is lost on me. But I was six years old when I fell in love with bonsai. It wasn't until 2 or 3 years later that I started moving trees from the nearby woods to my parents yard. And it was several years later before I tried bonsai. Now I believe I was born loving classical music in a household bereft of it. But honestly, you could be right on the mark and I could be a bit of a dinosaur in my wistful thinking. I will defer to you therefore because you are certain to have a truer impression of youth today.

Ok but at 6 years old if you were into bonsai and classical music I bet you also had a bit of understanding of the world around you and could detect blatant absurdity. That is my point. This is the internet. It's literally full of absurdity. And as it has been in all of human history it's each person's job to recognize and avoid that absurdity. No different than snake oil salesmen of the 1800s

I guess not. I really don't know what you are saying. The post you deleted made a bit more sense to me but this one is lost on me. Guess I'm just dense. You go ahead.

You give me far too much credit. I was just a child. I still believed in magic.

You guys do know Bolero doesn't really know a thing don't you?
He chickens out on coming to the Four Seasons Annual Show every year.
Even though he only lives a short drive away.
He says he will bet every time at the last minute he makes up an excuse not to come.
I personally have written him off as a wannabe.
If he did show up I most likely wouldn't even acknowledge him.

After reading the informative Post's here by Smoke and a few others I have come to the Conclusion that Bonsai as a Generality is Alive and Well World Wide, even the Sticks in a Pot...

No more Bonsai Look Alikes !
You are wrong.

I'm glad you think of me on occasion.
I had forgotten all about you until Vance said something.
Too bad you're a coward.
You might have actually learned how to do bonsai properly.

I’m a newbie. For the record, this thread has only verified what I already assumed: bonsai people are a special kind of crazy.

I mean, the first thread I ever read in a bonsai forum was written by a wizard-looking dude named @sorce who appeared to write in some kind of golem-like Hobbitish riddles. That’s when I knew I was in the right place. The Merlin From Berwyn, I calls ‘im.

Some of you seem to have your shit together more than others, but growing tiny trees in tiny pots is pretty crazy. And I know crazy. I’m also a psych RN.
