In the garden today, I found this strange creature attempting to defoliate a trident maple. At first glance, I thought it was a fungus. I've never seen anything like it. Turns out to be a Hag Moth caterpillar, a.k.a. Monkey Slug. Sorry I didn't get anything for scale, but the bugger was about 1/2" long.20150928_145633 - Copy.jpg

Haha! Dear Lord Sorce!! Just spit my beer all over the damn place!! Don't know why that hit me so funny! But thanks!

It's good to know the socially accepted abbreviated form of that f bomb was powerful enough!

So cool. Reminds me of the first time I saw a hummingbird moth.

My wife has pictures of one she saw somewhere. Her and another lady thought it was a hummingbird.
