A lot can happen in two weeks

That's better than the phrase that is still echoing in my head from last spring's colloquium in Rochester..."whack it off". Dennis Makishima must have used that one about 100 times during his presentations and workshops.

That just sounds wrong.. Did he instruct you how?

Mancrush

Despite your admitted lack of experience you chose to insult Brian Van Fleet who is a fine artist and person. Since you insulted him he has not been back in 10 days. He was one of the best things about Bnut. You owe him an apology and if you don't you're an ass.

Well to be fair, Brian van fleet was actively insulting a 14 yr old child when i insulted him. At least Brian is a grown up. I am sure he is very knowledgeable. But, while I am new, I've felt that there is something of a bully culture here. If i see someone picking on people it bothers me. I won't allow myself to be picked on or let others be picked on. There are right ways and wrong ways of telling someone less knowledgeable than you that they are wrong. And you can tell from the thread that Brian's condescension and sarcasm wasn't lost on the boy.

But I am sorry he hasn't been around. For the record i am sorry i reacted the way i did. I will apologize with a private message.

The chosen trunk line is fine. It's just boils down to a matter of personal preference. The right branch was IMO just a bit "too dynamic" for my taste. The lefty still provides sufficient movement and an upward graceful flow. Besides, there are shoots popping out of every nook and cranny. With that said, I'm somewhat opposed to tilting a tree in a pot, especially if it's nebari is already substantial.

Pinch?

I agree that the new branches should be wired, but right now they are soft and crisp like lettuce they would fall apart now.

But what about cutting all the new shoots in half? Does that make branches fork on a crape myrtle?

Alternate buds

I think i figured it out It looks like buds are alternate, not opposite, so it shouldn't fork, just grow from the next internode down At a slight angle to original shoot.

Look BVF is a big guy and I bet he was not affected by your insult much, at least not enough to stay away from here over.

A "Bully Culture" here ? naw ... you must be speaking of the ass mentality that is prevelant here, you know the one, where a new poster here starts a thread like " Help me my juniper is dying " the thread where it turns out the plant has been chopped, wired, twisted, root chopped and placed in a new Bonsai pot, taken out of the pot to reposition and placed back in the pot at a better angle to show the Nebari all during 2 weeks of grow time setting on top the TV in the living room.

It usually follows that the OP has been lambasted by "Kindly Bonsai Masters" and reads every thread while licking their wounds, that way 2 weeks later they can regurgitate what they read here in some post where they berate some person looking for help while qualifying their newfound knowledge with words like " I have been keeping Junipers for 20 years now ...! "

Yep, a lot can happen in 2 weeks .
