Spring 2023 - repot and removed from board. Straightened roots. Repot to mica pot.

Great movement in the trunk. Your oak has nice lines!

Thanks! Although I think the bottom right branch is dead. Which in the long run is probably fine.

And an update, this did not survive the winter. I think it did not get enough water in the mesh basket.

You did nice work on the trunkline though. Are you going to start another tree separate from the contest?

I do have another volunteer that started this spring. I’ll have to check out the progress soon.

Love the nebari. I really hope I will be able to get my oaks to that stage.

They seem to be vigorous growers. I’m looking forward to finding what the root growth looks like at repotting time.

Spring 2024 repot. Deeper pot and a coarse perlite / coco coir mix. Roots straightened. This will be my “honorable mention” submission.
