From Idaho? Just north of Pocatello? Just south of Blackfoot?

From Idaho originally. When I met her she lived in Chicago by way of Wisconsin.

[EDIT] Just checked with her. She moved to Wisconsin when she was 10. [/EDIT]

Just curious, did Blackfoot indians called themselves blackfoot? Or was that a white man's name for them?

The name Blackfoot (or Blackfeet) came from Europeans who first encountered Siksika tribe members wearing black moccasins. Only the Siksika (of all the Blackfoot tribes) actually wore black moccasins. The Siksika belong to the larger Blackfoot Confederacy, known as the Niitsitapi. They are united by a common cultural history, and a common language. They lived/live in the plains of Montana and southern Canada. They remained fairly intact until the elimination of the bison herds in the late 1800's, and retain a strong presence in Idaho, Montana, and Canada even today.

The enemies of the Blackfeet were the Crow, Cree and the Shoshone.

I read a book on the history of the Blackfeet. They didn't have horses until around 1730, but by the time they first encountered Europeans (in the 1750's) they were quite accomplished long range raiders. They were considered dangerous and aggressive, and particularly feared by their Indian neighbors. Lewis and Clark, during their expedition, were particularly worried. Their first contact with Blackfeet did not end well - resulting in a skirmish in which a Blackfoot warrior was killed. The remainder of the expedition, Lewis and Clark were always concerned when they were in Blackfoot territory.
