With some care it should not be an issue. For mine I just plan to heel them in pine bark.

FWIW, I have a big one that has been through a couple of winters here, including last winter when we hit 3 F for a few nights. Did just fine. It was overwintered in the backyard with six to seven inches of mulch pile over the pot.

With some protection BC will be OK in PA/NJ.

Should say La.-collected BC should be fine. Fla collected, at least in my experience, are not as winter hardy as La trees
