In celebration of the changing of the seasons, we're going to have a fun contest! The rules are simple: all you have to do is post to this thread with your best Fall Haiku.

The winner will be chosen at random from entries in this thread. The "quality" of your haiku will not be judged :)

Please do not enter more than once, though you can post more than a single haiku if you are so inclined. Your entry has to be in before midnight, Nov 30, 2022 - in whatever local time you live.

The winner of the contest will receive a very nice pair of 8.25" bonsai scissors from Wazakura Japan.

Leaves clinging to hope
Spectacular sights for all
Till lifeless they fall

My wife says:

Haikus don’t make since
But I’ll write one anyway
Hippopotamus!

[EDIT]
So many haikus
Cascade across the web page
Must combine to track

Orange glow warms my face

ghost pale ashes fall like snow

upon frosted hair

Window frames clatter

small angry animals

no cage holds the wind

Wind words in my ears

tempt me from the world today

wrap me in white sound

Behind snow kissed peak

ribbons of orchid on rose

the suns lonesome gift

Frozen sheaths of glass

shattered crystal clouds of grey

soundless the cricket

Depth of pure feeling

hidden spaces within words

naught deeper than these

This thing steals my air

waiting, anticipating

to be of one breath

Words have fled away

not found within my grasping

searching for my tongue

Each unto our own

in isolation...in sync...

inseparable

Wingless is their flight

the realm of capricious Gods

who dare love so deep

It is always a pleasure to share my poetry............
thank you

Oh, autumn, to sleep.
To sleep perchance to dream then?
Dead bards hale winter.

Low, long, sharp, brilliant
Scorching torch at noon, dull
Converse challenges

Syrius follows
Orion's taut belt
Pleiades' beauty

Ah, a pumpkin!
Spices of tropical lands!
Dear God, for a soup!

Here on the north side
Does eat my lilacs again
The herbs have all died

To Halloween then!
¡Y dea de los muertos!
Then NaNoWriMo?

So many, many
So very little of it
Still, tic tok, tic tok

The Wind whisper’s my name
Be wary of the coming season change
Place me on the ground

Cut prune Shari Jin water
Watch the sun grow me stronger today
Snow wind hail thunder rain

My age is not known
My rings cannot be seen by eye
Still I please the eye

Color change to bright orange
Then I fall to the cold ground
Waiting for the warm spring

[EDIT]
Like leaves in the wind
I gather haiku closely
and place them as one
