Merry Christmas Brian!

continue deepening knowledge of hydroponics and general plant health and nutrient formulations.

make quality pre bonsai for sale.

keep some of what I make.

Have fortitude to make good quality, tapered branches on deciduous trees.

spend quality time with a couple bonsai friends.

meet a few bonsai nut folk!

I love the way my young trees are turning out.
I have Chinese Elm sprouting and European Hornbeam sewn.
I wish I had more room.

Merry Christmas all !

1. Plant seeds
•Trident maple
•Arakawa maple
Purchased several hundred of each.
2.Collect larger trees
•In the process of getting permits now
3.More airlayers.
4.Not waste my time or money with stuff that will never make a good tree.
5. Start a bunch of clumps with seedlings. (Got a bunch of 1 year tridents.)
6. Continue to develop what I have.
7. Hopefully, feel confident enough to put one of my trees in my club show in April. I Didn’t show anything last year because I felt like I didn’t have anything worthy.

There’s probably more I’ll come back and edit later.

Merry Christmas
Collect more trees, got a new saw last year and I have the place to collect.
Learn more about what trees I am collecting and what we have on the property to collect.
Figure out what I am doing wrong with purchased and collected trees, killing too many

Mine is to

1. keep selling stuff that's almost "done" - never seem to have enough space.
2. Get my Birch, Cryptomeria and kojo no mai into their pots.
3. Grow shohin sized stuff, start a bit of a collection and have a little area for them.
4. I'd like to help others too and maybe do some teaching.
5. Concentrate more on maples and selecting stuff with what I call high value 'properties' - attractive bark, good Autumn colour, nice Winter image, fruit and flowers.

1. Continue to learn and improve my trees
2. Have at least 2 bonsai instead of ALL pre-bonsai
3. Let go of some of my learner pieces that aren't going anywhere fast
4. Get Smoke to say one nice thing to/about me this year
5. Help my local bonsai club continue to grow and evolve
6. Grow my bonsai business and improve the quality of the pre-bonsai and starter bonsai I have to sell
7. Get some slab plantings going
8. Finally get a hornbeam

1. Put on more exhibits and shows. I put together a bonsai and beer event this past year that was everything I had hoped it would be, and I would like to do more similar events this coming year. The response from the public was simply fantastic.
2. More workshops and one on ones with quality teachers. I’m having Andrew Robson come over to help make some plans for my deciduous trees in the next month or two, and my first workshop this past year with Jan Culek was the best time and money I have spent in this hobby so far. I feel like I learned so much, so I’ll take as much of this as I can afford!
3. Sell some trees to fund this education. I have been working toward becoming a good collector of trees, and I have a few that I could now part with to free up money for workshops and education. I have a very fulfilling job, but it will never make me a rich man so I’ve got to do some wheeling and dealing to bring my goals to fruition.
4. Keep on collecting. I absolutely love everything about collecting trees, from the hike in and out to the many hours of hope filled aftercare. Each year my success rate improves and my eye for what makes a good collected tree improves.
5. Keep getting better at every facet of bonsai. There is no end to what can be learned and so I just want to keep consuming as much good info as I can.
6. Have fun. I simply love playing with my little trees!

What do ya got🧐?

Do more this year, scheme less. Lots of plans last year, want to do more actual work this year. Signed up for a study group, big step toward goal there.
