Re carving: I agree with you and it "Scares me" I have never done carving before or anything like it but just ordered a small dremel lol.
Re cultivar: no I have no idea, all I know is that it is not the nana but a "regular" punica granatum.
By the way if anyone has any insights on how to proceed next I'm all in

I would have kept the suckers, cut the main trunk out and grew a clump.
No no.....just a thought.@Potsofgreen it was collected in late August 2018, root ball cleaned and put in a draining soil I didn't repot this year just cleaned the suckers
