1st Yew ! Taxus cuspidata Japanese Yew Emerald Spreader

Been almost a year since I bare rooted this.
Today I hard pruned a couple branches pencil sized (which results in a fair height reduction
and some knuckle issues addressed) then cleaned up underneath most others
and just went through trying to omit some natural flaws that would work against any promising design to follow.

You're looking into the end of a jin not a space where a branch was removed, yet.
Wired the jin a little with #8 and the shoulder started separating when I bent it down.

The yew has some scale insect. Good that I got in there and messing around some.

It doesn't seem like it's been 5 years since I bought this gem.
I certainly have lost track of time as it's been nearly 4 years since I bare rooted and potted down into this, then available pot.

Looks like I need to rotate the tree next potting. It's still percolating well.

Any Updates?
The buds are just thinking about moving.
Rather dotted looking. Have not done any Winter
cleanup yet even.

Rained last night so trunk is darker
Healthy as ever. These are so very slow growers.
Soil is still percolating just fine after the bare rooting July 4 yrs ago. Time to be on the lookout
for a proper pot and remove that icky moss from the soil.

Picked this one up off the porch railing to do some soil and get a couple pictures
of the contrasty new foliage. Got combing through it and the interior was getting shaded
out by the prolific foliage. It's been raining which made the foliage cleanup much more
time consuming as the dead and yellowing needles/leaves were many and I mainly
used tweezers.
Did a few minor cutbacks, and pinched out most of the new buds in varying degrees
depending on position and vigour.
Still needs a little wire, nothing too heavy, but it's wet right now.
Also going to get a better suited pot with next Springs repot and repositioned.
