Coax new branches lower on trunk

Cut it back hard in the spring. Siberia elms will push buds out of the trunk. Just watch for it trying to push them out right underneath existing branches. It will abandon them for the new ones.

    Timber Sale Leave Tree Area

Everything. Cutting lots of oak right now because they're all dying of oak wilt. Plantation pine sucks to cut if it isn't being clear cut. Lots of backing down rows. The funnest trees to cut down are the huge ones that it can't do in one cut. Go round the front, dive the saw in then go around...

    Plants have consciousness....

I'm assuming you've heard of oak wilt. It's quite bad around here. We're noticing that as the disease progresses through tracts of red oak that the ones outside of affected areas are pushing dormant buds along the trunks. Being loggers we aren't sure if these trees are just in the beginning...

Trunk thickening - perform branch maintenance or leave untouched?

I'm thinking that you're only using the lower portion of the trunk. If you don't need branches low on the trunk cut them off now. The part you plan on chopping off will thicken it just fine. Letting the stump heal where the lower branches were while it grows. Once you get the desired diameter...

    My non traditional bonsai

He's 9 years old now. Seems like just yesterday I got him. Lost a toe to cancer on his front right paw. No biggie to him. Other than that he's still in great shape. He's been indispensable at keeping my wife company during the day while I'm at work. He entertains her and when I'm not home nobody...

    Jack pines minnesota

Never been to Minnesota but here in a 4 County radius it's Jack central. Millions planted for a rare bird. Kirtland's Warbler. Look for ones growing in ditches where they've been mowed. Or along trails where they've been ran over. If you can find them growing next to wet areas they will have...
