Started bringing my tropicals in about a week ago and still have about 75% to go. Had to replace a few lights, and I may have to install a couple more though I said I wouldn't. I no longer have access to the heated greenhouse I had in past years. I can still put some plants in there if I want to risk it, but I have been informed that it will not be heated. It is connected to a heated potting shed so it may stay above freezing.
We have had nights in the mid 40s and more coming.

Smart man. ;)
Haha! I, too, cut down my tropical collection this year. I have 6 tropicals now. They are all shohin, except one ficus slightly larger. I wouldn’t be surprised if I get cabin fever over the winter, though, and order another from Wigerts at some point 😬

Our nighttime temps are still staying above 50F, so mine are still out on the bench. But it won’t be long….

Well, I still have well over 100 plants to come in. Many are not bonsai.

Yea it dropped to the low 50s last night and the night before. The same is forecast for tonight so I've thought about moving them in earlier than scheduled (Oct 15).

I've only got about 8 to move in so it's not a big deal so I'm on the fence on whether to move them early this year.

I’m glad I stumbled upon this. It’s supposed to get down to the 30s at night late this week and I haven’t really thought about the ficus on my bench until just now. Thanks!

geez, seems I was able to keep my plants out last year until late October, not so lucky this year with forecasts calling for drops into the 30s at night this Thursday. I always try to hold out as long as possible but I'm not willing to kill the plants for an extra week or so

Heavy sigh, I'm just not ready to move them in. We have some high 40's forecast for the end of the week but nothing threatening. Last year I was lucky and didn't have to bring them in until Halloween. They saw some 40's for sure, maybe even some 30's, but they are right next to the house. I wonder if getting to spend more time and get a chill kept them from dropping leaves when they came in, because they didn't . I know the time is coming but am putting it off as long as prudently possible.

As much as I hate dragging them in and getting all of the shelving and lighting set up, tending to them does give me something constructive to do in the winter and I get to see a few flowers.

I get it but I have to strike when the iron is hot. I have to deal with a lot more of everything this year.

Came upon some shelves, so I set them up in the living room window. It faces north, but I'll be adding supplemental lighting.

There's a heater vent right between them, so I'll be building an extra long deflector to move the hot air directly to the center of the room. Worked well last year with a much more hackneyed setup.

Just the house plants for now, but the rest will be coming in as nighttime temps drop.

Brought the orchids in but I’m waiting on the others a couple more weeks. I hate spraying everything before it comes in which keeps me bug free for most of the winter. I’m gonna try a cold closet for the crape and pomegranate.

I am sure they appreciate the window. I have very little in window space so I have to rely almost solely on artificial light. I have about 80% in now and the rest will be this week. Not sure it will all fit. I need to learn to throw away my trimmings.

I spray pretty well during the season but their are a few plants that still bring critters in. I eradicate anything I see, wash the leaves and water in a dose of Bonide Systemic Granules. After about 2-3 weeks I will set off an aerosol bomb.

Looks like October will be a good month for us here.

Similar problems here. I'm going to have to trim back quite a few just fit in the shelves. I was hoping to get some cuttings and seeds started over winter to sell in spring, but where would I put them?

I only have 4 tropicals. 3 BRT and a tiger bark ficus. Ficus in a east window and BRTs in a old tv cabinet I converted. D73C2BBD-04C2-46A3-A527-675D0CA16318.jpeg
