Bonsai Supply Issues! Do it Now

The inflation is because all of these issues drive up the cost of things. It is more expensive to produce, move, and store goods driving price increases. Did government cause this? IMO, yes. The stimulus money worked. If you give me a lot of money the will spend it. They did.
Again.. EU is at about 5% inflation. Highest since 1991. No such thing as stimulus packages here as far as I have heard. So I do not buy into that. I do agree that the lack of travel / bar / restaurant has been compensated by additional spending. Particularly in the home-improvement area, furniture and IT areas there is a massive increase in deman due to home-office. I know we invested probably over 1K into getting 2 home office setups.

Yes, but the US stimulus drove global demand, caused the capacity issues which raise the price for everyone globally. I don't know much about the Asia to Europe trade but from what I understand the service and prices to import are higher then Asia to US. What goes on in this US almost always cascades to the rest of the world. Our recessions are your recessions and our booms are normally your booms.

Great, one of the reasons I posted was to alert others to a possible shortage upcoming due to manufacturing issues, hence the suggestion to check local distributors and retailers if they are needed this spring. Glad you received yours. Shipping is always an extra, clouded by the current climate that has been led to expect free delivery with online purchases. Online sales have contributed to the misperception that shipping is cheap, when that is the opposite of the truth.
It is expensive to arrange door to door delivery for any package and get it there safely in a timely manner.
Fleet fuel and maintenance, labour costs, insurance etc!
I usually ask myself how much would it cost for me to drive there and pick it up myself and return home. usually the shipping is cheaper. On the other hand sometimes it is impossible to get it done in a timely manner for a reasonable cost. Then it is helpful that I like driving and have the time.
I came to the sum of $269.37 if I was to go get them. That is why I shipped them.

Inflation is often tied to the cost of capital. You can’t have free money forever and not expect inflation. There are many other factors at play as well.

Entire thread is interesting and somewhat depressing , yet totally expected. No real surprises, just lots of disappointments.
Good News today! The Azalea pots that I ordered in march of 2020 arrived at the local supplier for pick up today! It is a squat design from Deroma, in Italy that I prefer for growing out smaller bonsai. They are fired at a higher temperature than most terracotta and thus more resistant to freeze/thaw issues and cracking. They also retain more stable moisture levels and temperatures for root health than typical plastic nursery pots. I use two sizes typically the 8 inch diameter and the 12 inch diameter!
Approximately 22 months from the original order. Out of the original 100 only 7 were broken in transit. And the seller honoured the original quote due to the long wait. ( after some discussion) I believe I am ready for re-potting season now. Next step is to drill additional holes in the bottom and cut drainage slots in the bottom rim. Fairly quick process actually, just a little messy. Cost works out to approximately $4.20 per pot.
This is what the front and back cover could look like for the "pot party" invite!

By 2030, "You'll own nothing. And you'll be happy."
-World Economic Forum's stated goal.

Ignore the Great Reset at your own peril.
Anyone who doesn't see this for what it is is in for a rude awakening.....or you'll be happy, I guess.

Build Back Better!

The people in the Venezuelan Slums are wearing masks...

Also Libya.

And Many other places.. they HAVE to

Whoever said America has it "good" was right on base...

Average Americans, (Wisconsin, Texas and Georgia,) Do NOT really "care" about Covid at all....and that's fine.. I'll worry about me.

...and the numbers rise.

Around HERE... I get harassed by all the "Country Folk", at least once a week because I DO wear a mask! I'm Cirrhotic, DUH!

And I've heard of many other places harassing those who don't wear masks.. unbelievable!!!!

We Americans seem.... confused.

I'll just worry about My/My Families OWN face/faces!!! It SHOULD.. be that simple.

My supply prices are going up.. I'm assuming due to understaffing and fuel prices..

I think, also it will "Normalize" (Well.. as 'normal' as 'normal' could ever return to) Within the next few years.

America's economy and health where affected by that Flu of 1918 (?) STRAIGHT into the 50s..
Give it some time... a lot of mankind shares this "human indomitability"

:)

Odd, when diseases become political
EXACTLY!

They SEE the mask.. and make broad-swing assumptions about my beliefs and act aggressively.

INSTEAD of... worrying about their own situations.

It's just assumed that there is only two sides, these days... and that's not entirely true.

We are losing.. "The Gray".. and I will not stand for it..

Speaking of Aliens...AKA future humans....

You know the Left doesn't win because it's White Supremacy at it's most efficient and decieving.

So the future being Grey is a great sign.

Bring back the Land o' Lakes chick, Uncle Ben, and the Washington Redskins.

How has the cost of Akadama and Kanuma been affected so far? The current price in Vancouver, BC is $50 per bag CAD. So roughly $40 USD.
This being on the west coast with less transportation costs involved than distribution to the east coast.
Is it currently in stock? Or on back order?

Things are going to normalize in the next 1-3 years, probably sooner.

Though I'd love to believe so, I think we're going to be feeling the pain for quite some time. The Federal Reserve owns $5.7 TRILLION in securities, and though they have slowed the pace with which they are buying them, they haven't discussed their plans for unraveling their position. Once they start selling, interest rates are going up... and fast. You can't have artificially low interest rates forever, and this time the correction is going to be a big one.

I'm thinking five years. Just depends how quickly they decide they are going to start unwinding the clock, since they've been expanding the money supply for the last two years at an unprecedented rate.

It's going to be painful to watch. Rising inflation in the face of huge Federal debt, a giant Federal budget deficit, and rising interest rates. Anyone remember the late 1970's?
