The rock thread.

Trilobite, exact species unknown but it’s middle Cambrian. When I showed it to someone who has expertise he accused me of stealing it from Burgess Shale beds, it’s that similar. That makes our site very interesting and needs more investigation for sure. There’s only a few of us who know the location. 8C83D03B-8DFD-49E6-9CF1-1F1230376106.jpeg

This one is Ordovician in age. Again a site only known to 4 people. Halfway down a multi day whitewater river trip actually, I may be back there in a couple weeks, hopefully I can still figure out where to pull over. B7A8DA6A-341B-4F02-B290-04611A925E27.jpeg

This was found by my wife and son in a nearby creek bed about 20 years ago. A local expert had said that it likely predates the region's Lenape people. Could it be a prehistoric bonsai jin tool, or, something completely different?

Last one is not a rock, but it's concrete 😁

Love this rock thread! This one was out by my fire pit for years. It’s currently buried in my grow bed with a JM strapped to it. Looking forward to seeing it again next spring.

Picked this up off a river beach the other day. Hungry bit of wood eating a rock. I’ve always thought it would be cool to do this on purpose and grow a daiza around a stone someday. 0A87843B-4708-4437-9756-A54DC3724D86.jpeg865B08AA-A87B-4664-B203-F217FF53AF3D.jpegB77D969B-953C-4C06-9B82-B24EA65478E7.jpegFA11F263-B918-4A09-B357-CF1AC1816515.jpeg658DCAE8-BEB9-4226-A652-D0C6722B27A5.jpeg

And this, same day, interesting enough to not be left behind, just another damn rock hanging around the place.BC699B30-6D06-4DA0-928A-983846029D1C.jpeg

Wow, cool stuff. Are you going to treat the wood with preservative?

A bunch of iron-rich sandstone I found locally. I'm probably going to cement a load of these together to create a platform for a tall rock planting.
