Didn't use an assault rifle.
Extreme vetting for the purchase of assault rifles and hand guns should be implemented.
These things are killing Americans at a faster rate than terrorists are.
If a good comprehensive background check had been in ave this would not have happened.
I'm not against guns. Just against guns that are designed to kill people in large amounts.
Could you hit a gunman from a sitting position while he's firing pounds of lead?
I don't think so. And you too might even kill an innocent or 2 in fear. And if you do you aren't guaranteed he will flee. He just might shoot you because you presented a danger. Especially if he's wearing Kevlar like this guy.
In church too.
Thou shalt not kill. The 5th commandment.
Doesn't specify self defense.
So if a person is a real Christian and goes to church with a gun to shoot an intruder and actually get lucky enough to be a hero on earth but at the pearly gates he still has a body on his record does he get in?
He killed someone. So his eternal soul has to burn forever.

-but not faster than unlicensed drivers who kill almost as many each year as ALL gun crimes - but wheres the public outrage/debate to deal with the illegal immigrants and dui convictions etc who take over 8k lives annually? i mean seriously - the media, politicians and antigunners like to paint it as a national epidemic - but are silent when it comes to every other area where even more lives are lost. why is that?
If a good comprehensive background check had been in ave this would not have happened.
-there IS a comprehensive background check required and like a lot of other areas - the govt screwed it up too. following laws already on the books would be a good place to start. the guy was NOT eligible to buy anything in the first place and if the guy was removed from society for fracturing the skull of a CHILD along with his ex - maybe wouldnt have been on the streets in the first place. instead he was working as a security guard - how does that ever happen? i cant even get my meal at mcdonalds filled correctly - so i dont have a lot of faith in the govt's ability to do what they are supposed to do either.

- im against gun free zones where people have no way to defend themselves -which is where pretty much every mass shooting has occurred in. the killing in large amounts, that just isnt realistic. in that environment, the guy would have been just as effective with almost any modern weapon -the only limiting factors would have been the amount of ammo he carried.
Could you hit a gunman from a sitting position while he's firing pounds of lead?
-damn straight i could - and my petite little 16 year old could too. the way the guy ran off when encountered shows the cowardice and weakness of these people and reinforces the fact that in MANY defensive gun uses cases - merely presenting a firearm is sufficient to disperse a threat without ever firing a round. this is a fact that never gets any media attn.

- is it possible someone could kill an innocent or 2 by mistake - possibly - but i dont see how removing ones ability to defend themselves at all, helps eliminate or reduce that number. ive heard conflicting reports - im not sure the guy was wearing armor and was instead wearing tactical style vests/molle pouches for additional mags. to me - theres no sense in playing what if's - the underlying point is at least give victims a fighting chance to defend themselves and stop an attack.

- i think the general belief is that there is only one sin that is unforgivable, but its not that one. either way, im willing to risk it to save my life or another's.
