I don’t have a lot of experience with JWP specifically and recently acquired a couple of decent size material. The new shoots/candles are pretty long and floppy. Is this normal behavior or a sign of weakness?
Thank you.

When pine shoots go floppy, there can be a couple reasons.
First and foremost: do they feel rigid? Not like a deflated balloon animal, but like an inflated one; do they bounce back when you move them from left to right? If so, that's a good sign. It's probably normal behavior. We need not look into a cause, but it's likely a little excess of nitrogen.
If they feel droopy, and don't bounce back after you push them left or right but they just dangle a bit, or feel floppy to you, then it's time to water. This is not something you want to see happen every day, so it's time to use the chopstick in the soil to check for moisture on a daily basis. I've had it happen a couple times, once or twice is not a problem, three times could mean the root system got so dry that it died.

If it's watering related, please report back tomorrow after a thorough watering, they should be back upright again. Let us know if that's the case!
If it's not watering related and they still feel floppy some six hours after watering, please report back for further investigation.

If you haven't re-potted recently, soil moisture is appropriate (not too wet or too dry), and those candles are just extending, I'm going to say it's normal. I'll go as far as saying that those are vigorous candles and your tree is growing strongly. I'll change my opinion if the candles droop further and the needles stop extending.

Agree with the above comments.
Will add you need to learn about candle pinching on single flush pines to help control internode length. These long candles will result in long necks aka internodes. Looks like you're too late for some of those this year

They are pretty firm when I tried to push them around and they bounce back quickly. I am not as concerned now. Thank you guys!

Couple of tips. you have 3 shoots growing in one spot cut off the long one and trim the others back to 6-8 needle bunches you have leggy Branches. if you have 1 long and 1 short cut back to make them even. If you have flowers (Purple buds) make sure you trim leaving some needles on past the flowers. fertilize in the fall not spring.

Yeah I am leaving them untouched this year because I am going to repot next spring. Want to leave as much needle mass as possible to help with the recovery next year.

You will need to leave them untouched next year after the repot to recover most likely so you could have some very long branches
