Dwarf Scot pine no.5 (last one) repot and progression - please criticise

Hi - this is the last one and sorry for multiple posts.

This is an interesting one - clearly was trained in a bonsai pot before but put in a nursary can later. The core is like a concrete- it was probably some types of akadama and then wrapped with coco coir. It was really heavy…

I took out more than I wanted to but felt had to.

Please share your thoughts and ideas on how to take this further.

You took off a lot of roots. How is this tree doing? For now, I would do nothing to it this year and see how wel it grows next year before doing anything else.

It is not doing well- is it dead? can it still set bud for next year see pic7423? My plan is to leave it be and just monitor water and leave it till next Spring. Chance of a miracle?

Have reflected for quite a well - lessons are
I. took too much roots of the old tree. I guess it is probably over 25 years and a grafted tree.
2. should have buried it a bit deeper - surface roots was too dry. Although we also had driest year to date in over 100 years - I blame me.
3. should actually anchor pines in the future if training for bonsai
4. should water more if it is scots or JBP.
5.?

Don’t be discouraged, we all kill trees. Pines are very sensitive to root work. If you look through the articles and archives in here find information on Mugo care written by Vance Wood. Get another tree and have another go!

Yeah......Im sorry but yes its dead. Pretty much all brown = dead
As the poster above said, dont be discouraged. Many of us killed our first trees.
Only way to learn is to do and pines are not the best tree for a beginner to start with.
Try again but please do some reading before you touch the tree other than water and feed so you can learn the proper way to do things
