I assume I have water jasmine seeds here, there's about three of these seed pods on my newly acquired tree. My question is how should I treat these in order to use them in 5-6 months? When should I remove them from the tree, and is placing them in a plastic bag enough to keep them from drying out ?

Water Jasmine will likely need to go into a greenhouse at your location. I'd just sow them and keep them with the mother plant in the same green house. I have grown them and they did fine in doors during the winter. But I killed them due to a spring freeze...

Wow ...I have like 5 WJ and they are all older trees and I have yet to see any seed pods yet...only flowers.

eBay auction got some decent ones and also Wigert bro. It’s the most popular bonsai specie for Viets, it’s called “Mai chiếu Thủy”.

I have a few that I start from seeds I collected back in VN. They bloom every year but never really set seed. Somehow, I remember I might have seen one year where there were seeds but can't remember. Anyway, the seed pods look still too young to be viable. They need to turn yellowish before you can harvest them. I would just leave them on the tree and winter the tree like you would normally do. If they make it to next year and continue growing... then collect them when they turn yellow. You don't want to wait too long as they can just pop and release all the seeds inside. They have cotton feather like that will fly away in the wind.

Thank you for that! My cousins in VN been asking me about it. I had no idea that’s what it’s called. Just grabbed one from Elemental/Bonsai nursery. Look like it’s about to bloom too
