Welcome to the site!

Zanthoxyllum is a plant genus. Do you know the species of your tree? The genus is somewhat broad and includes semi-tropical all the way to tropical trees, so the care might be different depending on the tree species.

looks like fagara. Some sell this as piperitum which has pointed leaves and no winged petiole between leaf segments.

Not sure as that’s the only name that’s on the label. I could post more photos.

Where are you based? What time of year is it there?

Does it get good sunlight?

Whatever that spikey thing behind it in the pot is has some browning leaves and I notice the leaves on the soil are browning, did it miss some watering? Is it near a radiator?

Uk, winter. It is in window so get good sunlight when the sun is out. Yes, may of missed one. But it is watered regularly. It is not near a radiator.

I'm also UK, we are experiencing real cold weather atm this may be one possible cause.

I am not familiar with the pot, the Buddha or the spikey thing in the pot to guess at where you bought this,

I do know many sellers here sell 'piperton' cultivar which is apparently deciduous

If you have this (or one of the other deciduous varieties) there is nothing to worry about

I would recommend asking the seller or checking their website for further information,

How is it doing now? I would advise you to remove all the brown leaves so you can see if the problem is still getting worse. There appears to be new leaves in the pic

If it turns out to be evergreen and or still trying to grow I would advise a grow light, (there are cheap LEDs available on amazon that cost very little to run and will supplement the very little sunlight we get here)

Hope this helps
