You know you live in a rural district...

When my parents lived in West Virginia school would be closed the whole week of deer gun season, not just the first day. My mother was just talking about this the other day. In my part of Ohio schools don't get any part of hunting season off.

Oh wow...an entirer week! Shhh will keep that under my hat. Or we will have unhappy children...instead of happy ones. They started offering the day off. When we didn't have enough show up to call it a day. So how the story goes...

You got me there...but I'll bet most of the kids I went to school with drove a tractor daily just like I did. Just not to school.

I remember the first day of pheasant season use to be a big deal when I lived in a tiny town.

My Father is from Ohio. Grew up on muzzy lake road in Ravenna area.

I couldn't imagine that, but I bet you couldn't imagine that we had "smog days" when we couldn't play outside.
No, I can't imagine "smog days". Crazy!

Oh...I couldn't locate a photo of the tractors. Asked a friend for hers. And she sent me this one. Now, our local paper puts a notice of the day so ones can be watching out for slow moving traffic on their routes to work that morning. Just as a safety procedure. Very small school...my son's graduating class...is around 150.

Most here are farmers...kids aren't docked for a gym grade if they have nothing but boots to wear. This is a "FFA class deal that has been tradition since before my time." (oh...and I'm 45)
