Wulfskaar's Siberian Elm Clump

Little leaves just starting to come out of 2 of them. The other 2 are barely showing signs.

The leaves recently began turning brown/orange in places, especially lower down. I don't see any bugs. Had a 2 week heat wave that ended a couple weeks ago. Not sure if it's getting too much sun, or too much water, or not enough water? Maybe not enough fertilizer? Maybe they should be in a deeper pot?

@cmeg1 These are yours, so I'm wondering if you can give me some input on these. They are still in the rock wool cube.

Too much sun? Absolutely not.
Remove plastic from the stonewool? Should do that.

Organic nutrient or synthetic?
Then we can discuss ph and also nutrient uptake perameters.

Thanks @cmeg1 I was slightly worried about giving you a bat call... I am not the chemist that you are.

Plastic was removed from the stonewool when I potted it.

I am using Neptune's Harvest fish juice, although admittedly I am not using it as often as I should. I've been feeding my trees roughly once every 2-3 weeks this year. 😬

I have the ability to adjust the pH, but I prefer not to if possible. It becomes a big chore, and most of my trees have survived fine without adjusting.

Looks potassium deficient………..not sure if the phosphorous is organic or a salt ion .

If the phosphorus is an organic form, definitely need mychoriza to break that down.

If the phosphorus is a salt ion type, you don’t need Myco’s at all.

I found pH is very important specially in the volcanic substrates………

Otherwise, it’s great how the girth is starting to happen on these!!!!

Great👍

Thank you!

I love the trees and look forward to their development! I will also look into fixing those issues to make them healthier.

Btw... I didn't even realize how much they have thickened until you mentioned it. :)
