I'm looking for floribunda (Japanese) wisteria bud sticks for a grafting job, small job, 2 sticks. Preferably pink but not white. I will buy a couple of 10" sticks or trade some J. maple sticks, several varieties or JBP, JRP. Post here or PM. Thanks

@garywood Hi there! I might be able to help. I have an aunt who has a huge wisteria tree in the yard. My mom visited and she had told me that my uncle said his wisteria is the japanese variety that are pink. Let me dig a little more and I'll get back to you! They live around the corner from me so if it is indeed the type, I'll help you out!

Thank you L! If you want to PM to save clutter that's OK
edit: On second thought, it might be educational for those interested in the process of collecting scion wood, storage and grafting.

I have two gigantic wisteria, but am not sure what type they are. They are both pink. They are trying to take over a small (getting larger every year) part of the yard. I have to cut the ground runners back, but they keep showing up everywhere!!!. I would be happy to send you parts of the monster, I've been planning on doing a layer on one of the big trunks this spring. I don't know how you need these prepared, or when you want them, but would be more than happy to send them to you.

@lieuz @Judy, Thanks! Scion wood can be taken any time before bud swell in spring. A convenient length with three or four vegetative buds on current years growth. Internode length varies a good bit so look for buds as close together as possible. A quick wipe with Isopropyl alcohol and wrapped in barely damp paper towel and placed in a zip-lock or wrapped with cling wrap then put in the fridge until grafting time or shipping.

3 things I sit in awe of..

1. Grafting itself. Like this specifically.
2. How quickly the class was announced, and how precisely the class was conducted.
3. It happened so fast, because this is a great community.

It would be pretty awesome....
To follow along on this whole process..
Pics from all....
Shipments....
Grafting....

Like the Mach5 / Barrosinc photograph collaboration.
And the Eric Group / Frary trade thread.

Something about these interactions is a real fire lighter!

Awesome!

I'll take probably more than you want of these for you! Pm your addy before spring to remind me!

@garywood Hey, my uncle just got back to me today. He said it's not a japanese wisteria. It's the chinese variety that is of that deep purple. No idea where my mom got that pink from if it's the chinese variety. Sorry about that!

Is a multi color tree out of the question?

Sorce, Not out of the question but chinensis purple is readily available. The buds will be put on W. frutescens to try and tame the beast.

Ok Sorce mentioned about asking for cuttings. Would I be able to purchase some cuttings, or perhaps some that are already rooted?
