When I bought this wisteria in August 2008 it was a spindly half-inch whip strapped to a bamboo pole in a one gal plastic pot. I promptly put it in an 8 inch plastic pot of bark and garden soil. In April 2011 I slipped it into a 15 inch diameter pot and returned it to a back corner of our garden, where it remained until this February when I put it into its current (8 inch deep, 6 inch hexagonal) pot.

It was represented to be an ‘Alba’(aka Shiro Noda’) which I understand to be lilac tinged white flowers. However, this year like the four previous ones, the flowers are lilac centers, framed in white – not exactly what I thought I bought (but for $10 why should I complain?).

I actually prefer the purplish color of wisterias... I think it is great.
I have a wisteria and I am ordering a pot online, any chance you could estimate the thickness of the trunk to help me dimension the pot I need??

The stem is 2 inches (5 cm). It likely could go into a slightly smaller pot, but this is what I had on hand this spring. Even though is it is Japanese wisteria, I like wisteria in painted Chinese porcelain - just haven't found one to my liking yet.

Beautiful, Wisteria is the reason I am getting in to bonsai. I hope to someday care for one, of course once I gain the knowledge and experience :)

Thank you.

You've got to get some trees/plants (wisteria is really a vine) to really gain knowledge and experience - just don't spend a lot of money on anything until you are confident in your abilities.
