Curious to what this technique is called, I have seen the end result of this technique and it looks great but I would like to know the name to further investigate it. To my knowledge I let the candles extend as long as possible every season until the wire is no longer visible.

I purchased this line like this by the way! Reduced the growth so it was easier to pot.

I'm not a fan personally. I think it's a technique used to fast-track lesser quality trees.

We call it " Yamadori style" where you have crazy twist and turn to gain rapid growth on the trunk in a shorter period of growing... This one looks like in came from Ed Clark from Lindsay California.

To @RileyJFDB13 - There seems to be something wrong with the needles, check this for brown spot needle blight.

...and I don't understand what state of growth the tree is in, trully looks like it was shoot prunned in Fall? I'd let it grow strong this season and check/treat for possible disease. The trunk will improve as time passes.
